Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound
Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound is a non-profit organization that encourages members of the community to assist local law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime in King, Snohomish, Kitsap, Island, and Whatcom counties.
The community provides anonymous tips by using the P3Tips mobile phone app, by visiting crimestoppers.com, or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound never asks for the tipster’s name, and it’s this anonymity that enables people to offer a tip without the fear of retaliation. With every tip, hundreds of hours of investigators’ time are saved, allowing crimes to be solved faster.
The incentive for supplying tips is more than just helping the police and keeping our community safe. We offer a cash reward for any information leading to an arrest and charges. Our pool of money to supply tipster rewards is driven entirely by donations. Since launching in 1988, Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound has paid close to $1 million in tipster rewards. Those tips led to the arrest of more than 14,000 criminals and cleared over 12,000 felony cases.
As the Executive Director of Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound, Jim strives to build trusting relationships between the public, the police, and the media to create a safer community environment by sharing information, providing training, and apprehending criminals.
Crime Stoppers Global Solutions
In 2017, Jim Fuda was instrumental in helping to launch Crime Stoppers Global Solutions (CSGS), a program focused on combatting transnational crime at its source and/or transit routes before the effects of these crimes reach other nations, including the United States, Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia.
Similar to local Crime Stoppers organizations, CSGS will use the same app technology to accept anonymous tips from community members around the world. CSGS will then evaluate, prioritize, and forward those tips to trusted law enforcement partners in the appropriate country/jurisdiction where the illegal activity is taking place. If an arrest and charge of a suspect is credited to the information submitted by the tipster, then that informant will receive a monetary reward of US $1,000.
The crimes that CSGS is targeted include:
- Human Trafficking
- Terrorism
- Illicit Trade
- Illegal Arms Dealing
- Narcotics Smuggling
- Cybercrime
- Bank Fraud & Money Laundering
Currently, Jim is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for the CSGS.
